How saltwater chlorinators work
Salt chlorinators use electrolysis to sanitise your pool water.
Initially, salt is added to your pool and this saltwater is circulated via your pool filter motor and through an electrolytic cell which converts chloride contained in the salt into chlorine. The chlorinators also produce a small amount of ozone which gives your pool that added sparkle. Your pool water will be healthier and you can be assured your water is being sanitised. No further chlorine needs to be added to your pool.
Benefits of Saltwater Chlorinators
The benefits of salt chlorination are the convenience and constant delivery of pure chlorine-based sanitization. This will reduce the chloramines in the water which is the direct result of red eyes and itchy skin. For people who are sensitive to chlorine, this system is definitely less offensive. Saltwater pools are cheaper to maintain as salt is significantly cheaper than chlorine.
